Seals regular Mason jars correctly over 90% of the time. I use the cover 2, and then remove the top (which will be loose) after sealing. In rare cases, when the jar is not sealed for the first time, you can tell right away, because the lid will not have "popped in." Mostly it is due to not properly cover the first set, because of the soft gasket material to the cover dried. A light film of water will determine the final issue. I like metal sheets, as you can at any time to confirm that your jar is still closed, simply by pressing down the cover to make sure that it is not popped up. This jar sealer, with regular Mason jars, it is much better than the special Foodsaver canisters. You have to be aware that this jar sealer attachment does not include hose you need (at least not mine). Definitely buy this item again.
I have owned Food Saver wide mouth of the jar sealer jars for many years. It works like every time champ. This works less than 10% of the time.
I was very excited about using my foodsaver, but only together with a wide-mouth jar sealer. I ordered the regular mouth sealant online and received it quickly. It has only two backs to keep the lid during the sealing of the jar lid (wide mouth sealer has five). The result is rocking, and failure a long time. I discuss whether to return or not, but decided to solve my problems by adding a paper clip as the third and fourth back into sealant (between the sealant and the jar lid. Works fine, and it is not worth the return if you do something with this simple solution problem. Thank you, Linda Schank
Makes sealing jars that easy! I should have bought it years ago! Use regular canning jars and lids and stamp away! It provides a very fresh!
The product has worked for me, as described in the instructions. It was nice to buy some things in bulk and be able to save them in my sealed mason jars. I am looking forward to growing, drying and sealing of herbs this fall.
