The 8-inch roll is a perfect size for me. I use these almost exclusively rolls. The bag material is very solid and stands also for multiple use (eg in respect of cheese – 2-3 inches of additional material and leave the food back into the bag after you use only part of it). The rolls are much more economical and efficient than the finished bags. And seal virtually everything that goes in a freezer in the materials, and the "persistence" items in the refrigerator, dry storage as well as aromatic items such as star anise, dried peppers and other spices in bulk. The food budget goes a lot further, if they buy the larger pieces of meat, and then finishes, parts and freeze them in meal size of the lot. This is an excellent product, Amazon has consistently excellent price on it!
I just started using the bags around Christmas time, and havn't stopped since. We love the roll, because we are able to adapt to the bags of food. When buying food in bulk like we do with Sam or Costco Food Saver roll is just what the doctor ordered.
If you have any problems with the bag puncturing or leaking fluids, try to use paper towel or wax paper to wrap food items in. Wax paper seems best for leaky liquid and paper towels are best to deliver food that puncture the bags.
The bag is good for some uses, but I am seeking to place the jerky in the bag and punctures holes in the bags .. I need a heavier caliber bag that will not puncture when their use. I need to find a bag heavier caliber, you can answer this question for me.
